Alpine Slide
Located on historic Howelsen Hill, the Howler Alpine Slide is one of Steamboat’s most exciting summer attractions. After riding a chairlift with great views of Steamboat, you’ll hop on a sled and wind down a 2,400-foot track that follows the bends and curves of the natural landscape, including six 90-degree turns. Open to riders age 3 and up,it’s a fun and exciting activity for everyone, from kids riding down with their parents to couples looking for a uniquely romantic activity.

ATV/Four-Wheeling
There may not be a more thrilling way to see Steamboat than on the back of an ATV or four-wheeler. Enjoy

Boat Rentals
Whether you’re looking to paddle, fish, waterski or wakeboard, renting a boat is a great way to spend a warm summer afternoon in Steamboat. Marinas at Steamboat Lake and Stagecoach Reservoir—both about 30 minutes from Steamboat—offer pontoon, fishing boat and canoe rentals for one to eight hours. Inquire about speedboat rentals. Botanical Gardens

The grounds and gardens at Yampa River Botanic Park complement the majestic mountains all around Steamboat.  Open dawn to dusk from spring until the first heavy snow, the park features picturesque ponds, native and non-native plants, and a variety of birds and butterflies that are sure to delight guests of all ages. On Thursdays, come for a morning walk and stay for a noontime concert as part of the Music on the Green series. Best of all, admission is free for everyone.

Bowling

Perfect for that rare day when you’d rather play inside than out, Snow Bowl is Steamboat’s premier bowling alley. Dog Sledding
You haven’t really experienced Steamboat until you’ve traveled it at the “speed of a dog.” Mush your way through Steamboat’s beautiful backcountry trails on a sled pulled by Alaskan or Siberian Huskies. Fishing
Fishing enthusiasts will love Steamboat’s abundant public and private waters, including the Yampa and Colorado Rivers, Stagecoach Reservoir and Steamboat Lake. No matter what you want to catch—trout and pike are popular—you can head out on your own or arrange an outing that includes transportation, fishing gear, flies and a professional guide. Half-day, full-day or multi-day trips are available for individuals and groups of various sizes. Gondola Rides
Steamboat’s eight-passenger gondola remains open throughout the summer so you can enjoy the same epic views you’ve come to love—without the snow, of course. Take a ride up Mt. Werner then hike or bike a trail, dine at a mountaintop restaurant, or bring a picnic lunch. Even in the summer, it can be windy, so dress accordingly, and plan to have a great time.

Gondola Square Adventure Zone
Plenty of family-friendly fun awaits right at the base of the mountain at the Gondola Square Adventure Zone. Along with an educational Nature Den, kids will love the climbing wall, Human Gyro, Shoot’N’Shower and the awesome Slingshot Trampoline Bungee Jump, which provides the kind of ‘big air’ usually reserved for only the most adventurous downhill skiers.

Helicopter Tours
Get a bird’s eye view of Steamboat and the surrounding areas on a thrilling helicopter tour. Hiking
Steamboat offers an enormous selection of hiking trails of varying intensity on the ski area and in the surrounding mountains, forests and grasslands. Countless incredible hikes for adventurers of all skill levels are just a short distance from Steamboat. Highlights include the Flat Tops Wilderness Area, which is exceptionally scenic and wild; Routt National Forest, which expands over 1.1 million acres of forest and high grasslands; and Fish Creek Trail, which is close to town and has spectacular falls.

Horseback Riding & Wagon Rides
Experience Steamboat in true Western style: on horseback. Trails through aspen groves, evergreen forests, wildflower meadows and high mountain lakes await riders of all levels, and guided trips can be arranged with local cowboys. Or, skip the saddle and enjoy a horse-drawn wagon ride along the Elk River, the perfect pre-dinner activity. The whole family can come along, or you can tailor a romantic ride for two—the choice is totally up to you.

Hot Air Balloon Rides
There’s no better way to see the Yampa Valley and the mountains around Steamboat than to take a hot air balloon ride. You’ll feel free as a bird as you look out onto epic views of the mountains, forests and endless sky. If you’re lucky enough to visit Steamboat during Rainbow Weekend (usually held in July), you can see more than 40 balloons take to the skies. Hot Springs & Pools
Natural springs surround the Steamboat area and make for a supremely relaxing day trip throughout the year. Old Town Hot Springs is a Steamboat institution, having operated year-round since 1935. The highlights are its three spring-fed hot mineral pools, where you can enjoy warm natural spring water throughout the year. There’s also an Olympic-size pool, 350-foot water slide, kiddie pool, weight room, tennis courts and other fun family activities in the recreation center. The Strawberry Park Hot Springs, just a short shuttle ride away, offer natural springs in an idyllic setting with massage, natural pools and the option to rent private areas overnight. Hunting
No matter the season, Steamboat offers outstanding opportunities for those who love the thrill of the hunt. Whether you prefer rifle or bow, you’re in for a great treat as you head out into the wonderful wilderness of Colorado High Country. Ice Climbing
While Steamboat’s reputation is built on the fun and adventure of heading down the mountain, now you can have just as much fun going up. Try a spectacular ice climbing expedition as you scale a frozen waterfall. No experience is necessary and all equipment is provided, so just dress warm, bring your camera and prepare to have a great time. Ice Skating
The Howelsen Ice Arena is the only ice rink in Steamboat, and is committed to providing quality and affordable ice skating programs in a fun and safe atmosphere. Kayaking
Head out for a day of fun and adventure in a kayak, one of the most thrilling ways to experience the mountains. The Yampa, Elk and Upper Colorado Rivers are just a short drive away and offer rapids for all kinds of kayakers, ranging from Class I all the way to Class V. Mountain Biking
With 50 miles of professionally designed and maintained trails on the Steamboat Ski Mountain alone, Steamboat is ideal for mountain bikers of all skill levels. Museums
The Tread of Pioneers Museum offers an incredible glimpse into American history and the lives of Colorado pioneers. Housed in a 1908 Victorian home with turn-of-the-century furnishings, the museum features ranching and mining artifacts as well as displays of Native American cultural artifacts. The Western room has century-old firearms, and tells the stories of the rodeo, local outlaws and much more. An educational treat for the whole family.

Rally Colorado
Formerly known as the Colorado Cog Rally, Rally Colorado is a popular country race held over three full days every September. It mixes challenging, technical and fast stages throughout country roads in northwestern Colorado, and has become a favorite event for race fans and drivers alike, ranking it high on the list of Rally America National Championship events. With lemonade stands, family entertainment and more, it’s definitely worth checking out during the beautiful Steamboat fall.

River Rafting
The rivers around Steamboat are great for rafting trips with the whole family, and provide an exciting and memorable way to experience the beauty of Colorado. From May to October you can view unique geological sites, old stagecoach trails and natural wonders while rushing through the rapids. Rock Climbing

Rodeo
Take your family to see real-life cowboys riding bulls and bucking broncos at the Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo Series—the most successful weekly rodeo in the country. Tubing
A leisurely float in an inner tube down the Yampa River is a fun, relaxing and scenic way to spend a summertime afternoon.
