Exploring the local craft beer scene in Steamboat Springs, Colorado is a hobby very close to my heart. (And my belly!)

If you’re a fellow craft beer connoisseur, you probably search for distinctive and fresh local beer wherever you travel. With Denver being home to the Great American Beerfest, Northwest Colorado is one of the foremost craft brewing hubs in the nation.

Steamboat Springs and Yampa Valley are no strangers to Colorado’s craft beer culture. Take it from a local — you’re sure to find a new favorite at one of these popular Steamboat Springs craft breweries.

Storm Peak Brewing

The largest — and usually most recognizable — craft brewery in Steamboat Springs is Storm Peak Brewing. With over 20 beers available at their taprooms, enthusiasts will always find something interesting to sip on. Explore fresh, locally brewed Lagers, Kolsch, Sours, Porters, Stouts, IPAs, and even a Cider or two.

Storm Peak offers two locations, the closest to One Steamboat Place being Bus Stop, conveniently located near the base of Steamboat Ski Resort. Their main taproom and manufacturing facility is just down the street at Elk River Plaza.

To complement your beverage of choice, Bus Stop shares a space with Antonio’s Pizza, and the main taproom is adjacent to pizza, barbeque, and burger spots.

In the mood for a quiet night by the fireplace? You can also find Storm Peak beers and ciders at most local grocery and liquor stores.

Yampa Valley Brewing Company

With three locations in the Yampa Valley, Yampa Valley Brewing Company is the second-largest local craft brewery in the area.

Their Steamboat Springs location is called The Hop House, boasting a selection of 20 distinctive beers. If you get hungry, The Hop House is located next to several local restaurants, allowing you to order the cuisine of your choice and enjoy it at the brewery.

Yampa Valley Brewing Company beers can also be found in local grocery and liquor stores.

Mahogany Ridge & Mountain Tap Brewery

While these two breweries may offer slightly smaller craft collections, they both feature full-service, sit-down restaurants.

Mahogany Ridge Brewery & Grill offers eight locally brewed beers and one Barley Wine, as well as a broad white and red wine selection. They offer an expansive dinner menu of popular entrees like burgers, steaks, fish, lamb, and salads. The whole family will be satisfied with this one-stop shop for food and drinks.

Mountain Tap Brewery, situated just steps from the picturesque Yampa River Core Trail, features 11 unique beers brewed on-site. If you’re not a beer drinker, they also serve house-made sodas, including the very popular Routt Beer (root beer).

Mountain Tap serves popular pub snacks like beer cheese dip, a sausage platter, and distinctive spicy chili and garlic oil sprinkled popcorn. For dinner, try their excellent Neapolitan-style wood-fired pizzas. Fan-favorite desserts include the Routt Beer Float or Campfire S’mores made in their wood-fired oven.

Steamboat Springs Craft Breweries: A Cultural Tradition

Cultivating unique and delicious craft beers has been a proud fixture of Colorado’s culture since the mid-1800s, beginning with small breweries that served the hopeful gold miners who traveled here to find fortune.

While most visitors now come to enjoy Colorado’s mountains instead of mining them for gold, tourists and locals still agree that no visit to One Steamboat Place is complete without sampling a few (or more!) of the crafty concoctions found at our Steamboat Springs craft breweries.
